Regular services at St Oswald's
You are so welcome at St Oswald's. We worship every Sunday and Wednesday and some are also livestreamed on Zoom. For the latest information about services please see our calendar.
1st and 3rd Sundays of the month
Spoken Communion service (no hymns) of approximately 45 minutes using the traditional words of the Book of Common Prayer alongside readings and prayers.
2nd and 4th Sundays of the month
Spoken service of Morning Prayer (no hymns) led by trained members of the congregation. Lasts approximately 45 minutes and uses the contemporary words of Common Worship with readings and prayers.
1st Sunday of the month
Contemporary Common Worship Morning Prayer service with hymns, worship songs, prayers, readings and a sermon. Normally a Kids’ Club which meets at the same time. The service is usually followed by refreshments.
2nd and 4th Sundays of the month
Contemporary Common Worship Communion service with hymns, worship songs, prayers, readings and a sermon. Normally Kids’ Club runs alongside the service, starts at the same time, with the children joining the adults for Communion (for more information on Children’s activites click here). Refreshments usually follow the service, which lasts about an hour.
3rd Sunday of the month
All-age contemporary service with hymns, worship songs, readings, prayers, activities and/or a talk. It is led by Readers and trained members of the congregation and lasts approximately 50 minutes.
5th Sunday of the month
A joint Communion service is held in one of the churches in the plurality: Sowerby, Sessay, Thirkleby, Kilburn or Bagby.
Said Common Worship Communion Service. Every wednesday through the year lasting around 30minutes.
