Welcome!
If you’re new to the area, or exploring Christianity or looking for a church to call home, we’d love to meet you. St Oswald’s is a Church of England parish church in Sowerby, on the edge of Thirsk. We are a church family of all ages and stages, seeking to love God, build community and serve Sowerby.
We want everything we do to be rooted in the Bible and led by the Holy Spirit. On Sundays this means a mix of service styles from informal and contemporary to traditional Holy Communion. This comes with a mix of contemporary songs and well-loved hymns, prayer, and Bible teaching that takes God’s word seriously and connects it to everyday life. We’re convinced the good news of Jesus crucified, risen, and coming again is the best news in the world, and we want to keep it at the centre of our life together, so that all may know life in all of its fullness.
We’re a all-age family, children and young people, families, retirees, and everyone in between. Some of us have followed Jesus for decades; others are just beginning. Wherever you are on that road, there’s room for you.
How do I join in?
Come along for a few Sundays running, and get a feel for who we are. Stay for coffee and fellowship, we would love to get to know you.
You can also fill in this form below to connect with us, and one of our team will be in touch with you very soon. Alternatively, drop us a message through the contact page or join us on Sundays. And if you’re new to church itself, or have questions about the Christian faith, our exploring Christianity page is a great place to start.”
