The Bishop of Whitby wishes to inform you of the appointment of the Reverend
Pauline Percy as Assistant Priest (House for Duty) of the Benefices (held in
plurality) of Sowerby, Sessay and Thirkleby with Kilburn and Bagby.
The Reverend Pauline Percy was ordained in the Diocese of York in 2014.
Before ordination, Pauline spent time working as a science teacher in Secondary
education also working alongside PGCE students from York University and representing
the Special Educational Needs group for the faculty. Following ordination Pauline
was appointed Assistant Curate in the rural parishes of Crathorne, Hutton Rudby,
Middleton on Leven, Kirklevington with Picton and Upper and Lower Worsall. Additionally
she is currently a Voluntary Chaplain to North Yorkshire Police, based at Stokesley
station where she supports officers, staff and their families. Pauline is an
active member and Novice Guardian in the Third Order of the Society of Saint
Francis. She is the Diocese's representative on Stockton Local Authority's Standing
Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE).
Pauline is also a regular park runner enabling her to engage with people of
all faiths and none. She enjoys Triathlon (swimming, cycling and running), having
qualified to represent Great Britain in the Estonia during 2018. She also enjoys
handicrafts.
Pauline and her husband Howard will be moving in due course into the vicarage
in Kilburn. The service to mark the beginning of her ministry in the plurality
will be held at a later date and arrangements will be announced shortly.
A personal message from Bishop Paul: 'Pauline has a deep love of God and his
people. I am delighted that she is staying within the Cleveland Archdeaconry.
I am sure that the people of the parishes will enjoy getting to know her and
working with her.'
