1887 - 24th April 1918 (age 30 or 31)
2nd Bn. West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own)
Thomas was born in Thirsk, the son of Sydney and Mary Jane Todd. The family had lived in Little Sowerby where Sydney was a farm labourer, but by 1901, they had moved to Ripon.
Thomas married Louisa Geldard (daughter of Thomas Geldard and Sarah Palliser, born 28 February 1887 in Sowerby and died 25 July 1973 in Norby, Thirsk) at St.Oswald's, Sowerby on 13 May 1909. It is believed they had three or four children: Lawrence Newell Todd (15 May 1912, Copt Hewick - 1980, Northallerton District); Elsie M Todd (1913 , Ripon); Thomas William Todd (28 August 1914, Bridge Hewick - 2001, Lincolnshire) and probably Arthur Palliser Todd (b 1910).
Thomas enlisted into the Yorkshire Regiment at Harrogate, giving his residence as Sowerby, and he was killed in action on 24th April 1918. He has no known grave and is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial, panel 26 & 27.
Thomas Todd is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial in France
