Burials in the Churchyard

The documents below list the burials in the churchyard (graveyard) of St Oswald's Church.

The records are tabulated in alphabetical order and have been taken from the burials registers, which are kept in the County Record Office (North Yorkshire County Council) at Northallerton.

The records show the name, date of burial, the number in the register, age and, where possible, the plot reference. Where there has been difficulty in reading the information, question marks have been inserted or the record left blank. You may need to look at more than one register to locate the person you are looking for. Burials before May 1909 do not have a plot reference. Many of the older graves are still in the churchyard, but have not yet been tabulated or plotted. Every care has been taken to ensure the information is correct, but there may be errors.

This map of the churchyard provides guidance on finding the graves with plot numbers.
